The Story
A new concert series in partnership with the National Library in Jerusalem aims to bring themes from the library's collections to life through music. The fourth concert in the series celebrates the 75th birthday of composer, pianist, arranger, and educator Menachem Wiesenberg, one of Israel’s most prominent and versatile musicians. Wiesenberg’s singular career spans the full range between original composition and the craft of arrangement. Like a skilled translator, he takes existing works and recreates them, listening to them with profound respect before unleashing his boundless imagination. The program will feature some of the composer’s original works alongside his arrangements of songs by Sasha Argov.
Menachem Wiesenberg Psalm for Solo Harp
Claude Debussy Sonata for Cello and Harp
Menachem Wiesenberg Kaleidoscope for flute, percussion, harp, and cello
Menachem Wiesenberg Homage to Alexander (Sasha) Argov for clarinet and string quartet
Menachem Wiesenberg Percussion Quintet and String Quartet
Maurice Ravel Introduction and Allegro for harp, flute, clarinet, and string quartet
Sivan Magen Harp | Oded Geizhals Percussion | Guy Eshed Flute | Tibi Cziger clarinet | Carmit Zori violin | Çiğdem Tunçelli Sinangil violin | Guy Ben-Ziony viola | Michal Korman cello
This series is made possible by the generosity of Bruce and Suzie Kovner.
