The Story
The clarinet and viola are renowned for being the instruments closest to the human voice, making their combination one of the most harmonious and natural in chamber music. At the heart of the program is a beloved piece for this trio with piano: Eight Pieces by Max Bruch, presented in full - a comparatively uncommon occurrence. Accompanying it are two intriguing works: one by the British composer Rebecca Clarke, composed during her stay in the US and longing for England, and another by French composer Nicolas Bacri, a tribute to three American composers and the styles they embody. Part of Intimate Evenings Subscription Series.
