New York–based freelancer Hannah Burnett began playing the viola at the age of three. A native of Waco, Texas, she has performed internationally at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and the Royal Concertgebouw. Hannah serves as Principal Violist of the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra and is a member of the New York Classical Players, Princeton Symphony Orchestra, and Riverside Symphony Orchestra. She is also a frequent guest with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, NOVUS NY, the Knights, and the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra.

An avid chamber musician, Hannah has spent summers at the Kneisel Hall and Yellow Barn festivals. She was a founding member of the Unison Quartet, whose achievements included participation in the Juilliard String Quartet Seminar, quartet residencies at the Perlman Music Program and the Aspen Center for Advanced Quartet Studies, and a place in the finals of the 2021 Bartók World Competition in Budapest. She performs regularly with Frisson Ensemble, a flexible nine-member chamber group, and has recently appeared as a guest violist with the Argus, Terra, and Ulysses Quartets.

Hannah has been coached by members of the Juilliard String Quartet and has collaborated with artists including Natasha Brofsky, Anthony Marwood, Gilbert Kalish, Krzysztof Chorzelski, Janine Jansen, and Donald Weilerstein. A passionate advocate for contemporary music, she has worked closely with composers Shulamit Ran, Jörg Widmann, Julian Anderson, and Eric Nathan, and has premiered works by Philippe Hersant, Hilda Paredes, and Sarah Kirkland Snider.

In addition to her active performing career, Hannah serves on the faculty of the Greenwich Suzuki Academy and maintains a private studio in New York City. She holds both bachelor's and master's degrees from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Roger Tapping and Misha Amory and was a recipient of the Kovner Fellowship.
