The Story
A new concert series in partnership with the National Library in Jerusalem aims to bring themes from the library's collections to life through music. The inaugural concert spotlights Boris Lipnitzki, a distinguished 20th-century photographer renowned for capturing the cultural life of early-century Paris with exceptional talent, creativity, and originality. Among his subjects were many of Paris' most notable composers, who often bartered original compositions for his photographs. The resulting collection includes about forty miniatures, complete with handwritten inscriptions and dedications to Lipnitzki, written by such prominent figures as Martinu, Honegger, and Roussel.
This series is made possible by the generosity of Bruce and Suzie Kovner.
